Simeons published his findings in 1954, claiming that the HCG must have programmed the hypothalamus to protect the muscle tissues while the excess fat fell away at an extraordinary speed of up to one pound per day. Initially, others could not reproduce the findings of the HCG Diet, but over time anecdotal stories began circulating that the diet program really worked.
